This year, Southwark South Design District or SSDD, is returning again as part of the London Design Festival (LDF).
SSDD was established by Nicolas Okwulu (PemPeople) and Jan Hendzel (Jan Hendzel Studio) in response to London Design Festival’s lack of presence in South East London.
The district was created to shed the light on the London design scene around the neighbourhoods of Old Kent Road, Camberwell, Peckham, Dulwich and surrounding areas.
Last year was a massive success for the local artists, and this year the goal is to make an impact again. In 2022 SSDD is organised into 9 Sub-District trails listed below.
Sub-District Trails
Bermondsey | Camberwell | Canada Water & Surrey Quays |
Dulwich | Elephant & Castle | Old Kent Road (Host) |
Peckham | Peckham Rye & Nunhead | Queens Road |
| Walworth (with East Street x New Kent Road) | |
Get involved by simply completing the quick and easy form on the Southwark South website https://southwarksouth.design to let the organisers know what you would like to do. Whether it's an interactive installation, workshop activity, static exhibit, performances, talks or walks, there is a place for everyone to express themselves in design.
Southwark South Design District aims to create a district which makes design accessible to all and something that the community can feel that they have contributed to in some way.
